CBRE gift will support equity initiatives at the Institute

WASHINGTON (December 21, 2021) – Climate change affects those that have the least to do with causing the problem the most. A new multi-million-dollar commitment from the CBRE Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CBRE Group, Inc. (NYSE: CBRE), to the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) will soon help change that. The grant is part of CBRE’s community impact initiative.

“Climate change isn’t a problem for tomorrow. Billions of people across the world struggle with its impacts right now, particularly those in under-resourced and disinvested communities,” said Deeohn Ferris, ISC President. “The Institute for Sustainable Communities works at the forefront of equitable, people-centered sustainability initiatives that build community resilience and grow workforce development in cities around the United States and 6 South and Southeast Asian countries. This gift from the CBRE Foundation will help us scale that work, and grow and expand our successful programs.”

“We are deeply committed to playing a key role in helping to slow the planet’s warming.  Our management of 7 billion sq ft of commercial property for clients and the principles we’ve adopted for managing our own space position us to make a significant impact. Now our efforts are being amplified by our support for the critically important carbon-mitigation work that the Institute for Sustainable Communities is doing around the world.  We look forward to working with them to help our planet, people and communities thrive,” said Tim Dismond, CBRE’s Chief Responsibility Officer.

ISC will leverage this gift with current and future grants to strengthen and grow new and existing programs, consistent with ISC’s global mission. Around the world, climate change solutions that integrate racial justice and equity are underfunded, according to a recent report from ClimateWorks. This grant will accelerate and expand equitable solutions to tackle the climate crisis.

CBRE, a Fortune 500 company based in Dallas, is the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment company (based on 2020 revenue) with more than 100,000 employees serving clients in more than 100 countries.
