Resilient Communities Leadership Accelerator
Advancing gender-inclusive, locally led climate action across China
Advancing gender-inclusive, locally led climate action across China
China’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2060 calls for a just, inclusive transition across all sectors—one that recognizes climate change affects people differently based on gender and other factors. Local organizations are driving climate action, yet our research shows many have limited experience integrating gender perspectives and are seeking practical resources and training.
Through the Resilient Communities Leadership Accelerator (RCLA), ISC will work alongside community-based organizations (CBOs) in Mainland China to strengthen locally led, gender-inclusive climate solutions. This three-year re-grant program will support two cohorts—15–18 CBOs in total—each receiving approximately USD 40,000 to implement community-driven climate action plans. Beyond funding, RCLA will provide tailored capacity-building, peer learning, and connections to broader networks, ensuring local leaders have the tools and support to create lasting impact.
Over the next three years, ISC will work alongside 15–18 community-based organizations across Mainland China to drive locally led climate action. Together, we will strengthen net-zero carbon planning in alignment with China’s 2060 commitment and build resilience strategies that help communities anticipate, withstand, and recover from climate impacts and natural disasters. This work will be rooted in equity, ensuring that the unique experiences of women and girls are recognized and addressed.
Beyond individual projects, the program aims to help transform the climate resilience field itself by expanding its reach, enhancing its effectiveness, and embedding inclusion and community leadership at its core. By connecting local knowledge with targeted resources, training, and peer learning, we are co-creating a stronger, more equitable foundation for climate action in China.
