Since our founding in 1991 by former Vermont Governor Madeleine M. Kunin, ISC has led transformative community-driven projects across the globe. We garnered early recognition for connecting civic participation with environmental problem solving, and over the years we have developed an approach that accelerates a community’s ability to meet challenges head on.

At ISC, we believe that sustainable communities are possible. We believe that climate change demands that communities must transform, engaging their citizens, reorienting their institutions and shifting their resources and investments. We are working to catalyze change in cities, and to advance sustainable manufacturing in developing countries – targeting critical sources of climate pollution and reducing the very real risks of growth.
