As a senior program officer at the Institute for Sustainable Communities, Khilia leads projects that are community-focused and support equitable resilience and sustainability in the face of the climate crisis. Her projects include Dismantling Energy Inequity in Communities of Color (DEICC) and Partnership for Resilient Communities – Massachusetts. Khilia brings her diverse experiences and expertise in geographic information systems and data management.
Prior to joining ISC, she worked as a management analyst and GIS analyst for the City of Richmond (VA). She conducted annual community scale and municipal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories, which informed planning and progress toward climate goals. Khilia also worked as a science educator at Hopewell Public School and as a public health associate for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Khilia received her BS in biology from Norfolk State University and her MS in environmental science and policy and GIS certification from Johns Hopkins University.
