Climate change is the defining challenge of our time. Transforming our institutions, governance systems, communities, and our way of life to reduce greenhouse gases and strengthen climate resilience is not only urgent, but possible. To accelerate this transformation, ISC formed the Climate Innovation Fund – a philanthropic investment fund designed to seed new initiatives we can scale to help communities, industry, and government actors innovate.
First, donations from individuals to the Climate Innovation Fund are used to listen, learn, and design innovative pilot projects.
Second, once pilot projects have demonstrated success, ISC approaches government, foundation, and corporate funders to leverage initial investments and take the project to scale.
Third, ISC builds into the process a strong focus on enhancing the capacity of local communities and partners, so they own and sustain the work when our involvement ends.
So far, investments of $700,000 have leveraged over $39 million in scale-up funding.
