Bangladesh Country Director
Rita Lohani is the Country Director for ISC Bangladesh. In this role, she oversees the development of ISC’s EHS+ Center and ISC’s other activities in Bangladesh. The objective of the project is to improve health and safety, environmental management, and energy/carbon management practices in Bangladeshi factories. She is also engaged in programs that make urban and manufacturing areas more resilient to climate change and programs that improve the capacity of local institutions and professionals to respond to climate change. She brings over 12 years of experience in international development, with a focus on environmental and natural resources management.
Rita has a strong track record in private sector engagement, capacity building, and program management, bringing technical expertise in climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy efficiency, and urban development. Prior to joining ISC, Rita was Team Leader for the SEDF Agri-Seed Project and the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), where she managed private sector engagement in Bangladesh’s agricultural supply chain and climate smart agricultural practices. She has worked with the World Bank, United Nations Environment Program, and multiple donor-funded programs in consulting, technical advisor, and project design roles, including the USAID-funded Climate Change Adaptation Project Preparation Facility project in Thailand and the Climate Resilient Ecosystems and Livelihoods (CREL) project.
Rita received an M.E.M. in Urban Ecology & Industrial Environmental Management from Yale University, an M.B.A. in Global Business Management & International Marketing from Clark University, and a B.A. in Economics & Environmental Science and Policy from Clark University.
