India Country Director
Manohar Shenoy is ISC’s India Country Director. In this role, he leads the development of ISC’s strategic vision for India programming, pursues new partners and programming opportunities, and plays a key role in the design of new programs.
Manohar has more than 25 years of professional experience in international relief and development in Afghanistan, India, Indonesia, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda. A proven leader, Manohar brings skills in external representation, developing strategic alliances, stakeholder coordination, building partnerships, coordinating experts, business analysis, and financial management. He has deep familiarity with USAID, OFDA, the UN, the EC, ECHO, World Bank, AusAID (DFAT), DfID, CIDA, SIDA, SDC, the Dutch Government, GFATM, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and CIFF. He has worked on public-private partnerships and with the private sector directly – forming alliances, building private sector capacities, especially in the food and agriculture sector.
Prior to ISC, Manohar was with John Snow Research and Training Inc. as the Chief of Party in Uganda for USAID’s Strengthening Partnerships, Research and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING). During this time, he led the development of national strategies for the Government of Uganda across multiple ministries and parastatal organizations in industrial food fortification, developed the National Anemia Control Policy and conducted research on complementary feeding. As a part of the Uganda program he provided leadership to strengthen the private food and nutrition sector by harmonizing standards for inspection and regulation in industries and governments across the East, Central and South Africa region that included 14 countries.
Manohar was also the Country Director for Oxfam GB and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition in Afghanistan, the Country Director for Medical Emergency Relief International in South Sudan, the Program Director for the Clinton Foundation in India, and Director for CARE International and Population Services International in India. He has consulted for Tetra Tech, Mott MacDonald, Winrock International, and the IFRC.
Manohar holds an MBA with a specialization in Rural Management and Agribusiness and an MSc in Astrophysics.
