Special Assistant to the President
Karen joined ISC in 2015 as Special Assistant to ISC’s President George Hamilton, where she supports ISC’s board, management team and staff, plans travel and events, and tracks ISC’s strategic priorities. Karen brings 20 years of experience in management, education and international development to this role.
Prior to joining ISC, Karen was an Executive Assistant at National Life Group; she also served as Business and Development Manager at the nonprofit Earthwalk Vermont. In a prior career, she was a high school social studies teacher and assistant department chair; she also wrote the memoir Breaking the Limit, One Woman’s Motorcycle Journey Through North America. She served in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria and with the UNDP in Azerbaijan.
Karen holds a B.S in Education and a B.A. in European History from the University of Maine, and a MPA in International Development from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.
